Question Number: 926Other RE: Rec. Under 11 Darian Warden of Greeley, Colorado USA asks...Dear AskTheRef,.I know what forwards, defenders, midfielders, and goalies do. But one day I heard my coach say sweepers, wings, and attackers instead of forwards and such. I was wondering if you could e-mail me what sweepers and such mean. Thanks a ton. Answer provided by Referee Victor Matheson Attackers are the same thing as forwards. Wings are just midfielders and forwards who play on the outside inside of in the middle. The sweeper is the back most middle defender.
