Question Number: 18229Law 8 - Start and Restart of Play 1/10/2008RE: 8, high school, select, rec, adult High School Miles Hoover of Altus, OK USA asks...This question is a follow up to question 17951 On a kick off player A steps on ball (it does not move forward). A2 then plays the ball forward. Is this now in play or should a restart be taken? Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol The ball is in play because of A2's kick. Whatever A1 did before that is irrelevent (assuming he stayed in his own half of the field). If A2 now starts dribbling thinking that A1 put the ball into play, he will be rudely awakened when you whistle an IFK against him.

View Referee Keith Contarino profileAnswer provided by Referee Steve Montanino The ball is in play on A2's play of the ball. A1 did not put the ball into play as he did not kick it or move it forward and even if he had, this would still be legal as A2 would have been the next player to touch the ball.
