Question Number: 18049

Law 10 - Method of Scoring 12/3/2007

RE: All Adult

Steve Sheehy of Mentor , Ohio USA asks...

Just finished my futsal test and the question was asked in the class. Can the goalkeeper throw the ball from the penalty area into the opposing teams goal and score. We know the answer for futsal but great debate sprung up about how this would be managed outdoors.

Aside from the length of the field and the unliekly nature of the event, I see nothing in rule 10 that was prohibt such an act. If your decision is no goal, can you point to the rule or advise to referee that you used to reach your decision.

Thanks

Hi Steve,
it's a goal mind you the NFL will be signing this guy as QB in a hurry.
Cheers

That is a goal. Though, I would be amazed to see it.
