Question Number: 13959Law 10 - Method of Scoring 9/28/2006RE: u-10 ayso Under 11 debbie kosorski of sterling heights, mi usa asks...This question is a follow up to question 13088 If the goalie catches the ball on the goal line, but he steps over the line and into the net(the ball never crosses the line but the goalie holding the ball steps over the line). Is it a goal???
Thanks! Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Hi Debbie, NO! NO goal is awarded unless the WHOLE of the ball crosses the goaline under the crossbar between the posts. The position of the keeper's feet plays NO part ONLY the Location of the ball. If a keeper initially saved the ball from crossing the goalline and inadvertantly moved so far back or fell over the goalline past the boundryline into the netted areaso that while he has posession he himself carries the ball into the goal it will be a goal IF the AR or referee can see the ball has gone past that 5 inch plane of the goalline. There is no oops here! Cheersl

The only way a goal may ever be scored is if all of the ball crosses all of the goal line in between the goal posts and under the crossbar and no infringements of the Laws of the Game have occured. It matters not where the keeper's body or anyone else's body is for that matter. Only thing that matters is where the ball is.

It doesn't mention where the goalkeeper is. Players may leave the field of play during the course of play without permission.
No Goal.
