RE: High School

Brad of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii USA asks...

Red, #5, Scores a goal against Yellow in a hotly contested game. He celebrates by yelling, waving his hands, and running through the Penalty Area across the goal mouth...He continues his run from the Penalty area to his side of the pitch for the following kick off...As he runs by yellow's technical area/bench he does a cartwheel and back flip and proceeds to his position which is outside half back on the opposite side of the pitch from Yellow's bench...Is this considered taunting/excessive goal celebration?..Thanks

Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino

Hey Brad. Yeah, I think this one would bring a caution from most of us, but seeing how this is high school, a sending off is in order

Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer

This is taunting and in American High School it is a disqualification offense. The disqualified player may be replaced by a substitute. ..Regards,
