League Specific

RE: Other

JEFF HUDGINS of east lansing, Michigan usa asks...

Greetings:.I was watching a girls High School soccer match. Two yellow cards were given to the same player on one team. Two yellow as I understand it is the same as a red. That player must miss the next game, correct? Secondly, the coach substituted a player after the second yellow for the offending player. I thought 2 yellow being a red, they must play a man down for the remainder of the match. Please clarify these 2 questions for me. Thank you very much in advance of your response..Jeff

Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer

Jeff that?s true, a second caution in the same match is an ordering off offense EXCEPT in American high school competition. Another offense that a disqualified, the American high school term, player may be replaced is taunting. Funny that the committee feels the team should not suffer the consequences for some misconducts. I suppose peer pressure is becoming a thing of the past...Regards,

Hi Jeff and welcome to HS soccer, where the Laws are slightly different. Ref Fleischer gives a brief desrciption but if you like a more detailed decussion, you may like to try some message boards where they have refs that are invovled with HS.

I must express my disappointment at the US National Association, letting High Schools modify their LOTG, and thereby, by definition, making the sport to something else than football.../Oskar

I have to agree with Ref Fredrikssonk. It's as irritating at what Europe's done to the foul lane in basketball.
