Question Number: 405Law 11 - Offside RE: pro Adult Manuel of Edmonton, Alta Canada asks...Good day, congratulations for your web-page, here I go with a question:..Offside is a decision based on points of fact and matters of opinion. List the points of fact and matters of opinion that must be considered by the assistant referee before he signals his dessition to the referee. .Must all of these also be considered by the referee before he decides whether to stop play or not?.. Thank you Answer provided by Referee Victor Matheson The facts are whether the player was in an offside position (i.e. ahead of the ball, the 2nd to last defender, and on the attacking half of the field) at the moment the ball was played by a teammate. The opinion portion of the call is whether the offside player gains and advantage or interferes with play. Yes, all must be considered before raising the flag or blowing the whistle.
