Question Number: 32113Law 13 - Free Kicks 12/18/2017RE: Adult Muhammad Rizwan Khan of Abbottabad, KPK Pakistan asks...Sir, As all we know that during a goal kick no player of attacking or defending team cant take the ball in penalty area. But during a offside or foul kick in penalty area is it the right spot to take the free kick inside the penalty area and can a defending team player pass the ball to his teammate in penalty area or during the quick start attacking player gets the ball in penalty area?.. during offside and foul free kick? Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Hi Muhammad, NO! ANY outgoing free kick from INSIDE the defenders own PA must completely clear the PA boundary lines to be in play and be touched by any other player (team mate or opposition) . All opposition are to pull back out the area as well as respect the 10 yards. If a quick restart caught a retreating attacker inside or was intercepted or blocked inside the PA be it a teammate or opponent the free kick would be retaken. Cheers

In addition opponents must be 10 yards from the ball, That includes free kicks for offside, fouls inside the penalty area etc.
