Question Number: 31314Mechanics 3/6/2017RE: Rec Adult russell of Sydney, Australia asks...This question is a follow up to question 31311 Can only agree with Ref Dawson's opening comment around acceptable levels and how players (and the match crew) take their cue from what is called / asked.
Our challenge is when an individual accepts/rejects a different level to most others.
As Ref McHugh suggests, referee Friend was of the thinking this particular incident was not a foul, and as Ref Dawson likes to say " you call what you (believe) you see. Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Russell
Our individual tolerance levels are set by accepted norms in the game at the level we officiate at. We build up a threshold of what we consider to be fair / unfair and what needs to be called or what is trifling based on experience, tolerance levels, what is expected etc

I think as you move through your career you will gain insight as to the willingness of players to respect your decisions by not only coming to our sites for input but talking to and engage those you referee for feedback as well as any mentoring or assessments you can obtain.
