Question Number: 30883Law 13 - Free Kicks 10/10/2016RE: Professional Haji Hussain Jan of Muscat, Muscat Oman asks...can a player restart a kick with knee, body (except hands) Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Haji No that is not possible. It must be a kick. You showed an example of a restart that was touched by the knee of a player that tripped. Everyone on the field of play including the kicker was of the opinion that the ball was put into play so either the referee thought it was kicked as he did not see the knee or he simply went with what both sets of players decided which was the ball was put into play. If it was done intentionally say to circumvent the deliberate kick to the goalkeeper at a free kick the player is cautioned for USB and the restart is an IDFK.
