Question Number: 30161Law 10 - Method of Scoring 3/1/2016RE: rec Adult harry mehr of emporia, kansas usa asks...A forward is taking the ball and pass the goalie (last person) and shoots to goal and before entering the goal a person (watching the game) enters the field and prevents the ball being scored. Is it a goal? and if not what is the restart102123? Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Hi Harry, NO GOAL unfortunately the intervention of an outside agent results in a drop ball restart. Referee's should be proactive to the resulting tempers and flare ups. Could a team so embarrassed by such a plonky move choose to allow a uncontested restart? They could but the ball must be touched at least once after the ball was dropped as no goal can be scored directly off a drop ball Cheers

View Referee Richard Dawson profileAnswer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Harry Bad news for the team that nearly scored. No goal and the restart is a dropped ball from where the ball was when play was stopped. If the team wants to be generous and allow a goal to be scored from the dropped ball restart then so be it. The ball had to be passed among the scoring team as a goal cannot be scored directly from a dropped ball restart.
