Question Number: 29951Law 13 - Free Kicks 11/30/2015RE: Adult James of Sacramento , Ca Usa asks...An indirect free kick is awarded to the attacking came outside the opponents penalty area. The referee failed to raise his arm to indicate that the kick is indirect. What decision should referee make when an indirect free kick is awarded to the attacking came outside the opponents penalty area. The referee failed to raise his arm to indicate that the kick is indirect with the ball directly entering the goal. What decision should the referee make The kick is retaken because of his mistake, a goal kick awarded to the opposing team, the goal is awarded, a drop ball is awarded. Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi James As the referee failed to raise his arm to indicate that the free kick is indirect the kick is retaken where a goal is scored directly from the kick. If the kick is subsequently played the initial indirect free kick is not nullified by the referee’s mistake.
