Question Number: 28361Law 11 - Offside 4/24/2014RE: REC, SELECT,Competive Adult Mervin Shreve of Saint Johns, Fl United States asks...You have two forwards running the touch lines. Forward (A1) is on side whe the ball is played to him. He then sends the ball across the field to forward(A2) who is behind player (A1) with no defender, just a goal keeperin his area. Is player(A2) offside? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Mervin If A2 is behind the ball when kicked by A1 then there cannot be any offside as A2 is not in an offside position. A player is in an offside position if he is nearer to his opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent. Key word in the sentence is BOTH.
