Question Number: 28354Law 10 - Method of Scoring 4/20/2014RE: High school Under 17 EdR of Sutton, mA USA asks...If a keeper catches a shot on goal but then falls backwards crossing the plane of the goal with the ball in hand is the shot considered a goal? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Yes this would be awarded as a goal. Once the ball crosses the plane of the goal line whether held by a goalkeeper or not meets the requirement of Law 10 which states '' A goal is scored when the whole of the ball passes over the goal line, between the goalposts and under the crossbar, provided that no infringement of the Laws of the Game has been committed previously by the team scoring the goal.''
