Question Number: 28195Law 11 - Offside 2/20/2014RE: Rec Adult Eddie of Newcastle, Uk asks...If a keeper kicks the ball out of his hands to a forward who receives the ball directly while in a offside position, is he offside? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Eddie It depends if the team mate of the goalkeeper was in an offside position at the moment of the kick by the goalkeeper. It cannot though be offside if the player in an offside position receives the ball directly from a goal kick, throw in or corner kick. At all other times including a punt or a throw from the goalkeeper offside does apply as the ball is in open play.
