A defender throws the ball into his own keeper, who picks it up. Is it indirect free kick against the keeper?

Hi Richard
Yes it is an IDFK. The goalkeeper may not touch the ball with his hands when it has been deliberately kicked or thrown to him by a team mate.
It shows how the misnomer of the 'backpass rule' is not helpful. The deliberate kick from the team mate can be in any direction and it also includes throw ins.

Yes it is. From the spot where the keeper touched the ball unless that was inside the goal area in which case the kick is taken from the six yard line.
