Harry of Changde, China asks...

A goalkeeper takes a free kick in his ownpenalty area,but he kicks the ball into the team's own goal?Should the goalkeeper retake the free kick since the ball was not in play?

Hi Harry
Yes. As the ball is not in play the kick is retaken.

Harry,

That's correct. Because the ball has crossed a boundary line without entering the field the ball has not entered play, so the kick will be retaken.
