Question Number: 27924Law 13 - Free Kicks 10/22/2013RE: Varsity High School Mike of Monroe, CT USA asks...Offside called. IDF for defending team on the six yard line. Can the keeper kick the ball to a teammate inside the box, or must the ball clear the box? Answer provided by Referee Dennis Wickham On any kick for the defending team from inside their own penalty area, the ball is not in play until it leaves the penalty area. If anyone touches the ball before it leaves, the kick must be retaken. A common myth is that this only applies during goal kicks. It does not.
