Question Number: 27860Law 11 - Offside 10/7/2013RE: rec Under 9 todd douglas of phila, pa usa asks...A more experienced ref told me today, you can't be offsides on a goal kick. Is this true? Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol Absolutely. And it's been that way for years. Offside does not apply at 3 restarts - goal kick, corner kick, and throw-in.
It's also physically impossible at kickoffs and penalty kicks, because no one is allowed to be in an offside position when those kicks are taken.

Memorize it if you have to but that short Law gets more misunderstood as time goes by. At least remember the easy parts like no offside on goal kick, corner kick, throw-in.
