Question Number: 2785Law 11 - Offside 11/30/2001RE: AYSO Other Heath Daley of Riverside, Ca USA asks...A goalie picks up the ball from a shot on goal, he then kicks the ball the a attacker player who is in an offside position and was in an offside position when the ball was kicked. It was not from a goal kick. Is that player offside? Answer provided by Referee haselden If I understand the question, you want to know if an attacking player will be penalized for being offside if the defending keeper plays the ball to him. The answer is no. Law 11 tells us that the ball must be last played or touched by a teammate.
