Question Number: 27724Law 11 - Offside 9/3/2013RE: High School Thomas of Richmond, British Columbia Canada asks...Is there offside with a header pass? Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol If a player heads the ball to a teammate in an offside position and that player becomes involved in play, it is offside. The means of playing the ball does not matter. In fact, the player could inadvertently touch the ball, or even unknowingly have the ball bounce off him, and if the teammate in the offside position becomes involved, offside will be called.

The Rules do not distinguish in what way the ball is touched by a teammate in determining offside. It can be a pass, header, chest etc.
Indeed even if the touch is inadvertent it will still be considered in the calculation of offside.
