Question Number: 27715Law 11 - Offside 9/1/2013RE: Adult Thomas of Vancouver, Canada asks...A player in offside position received the ball from his teammate who headed the ball to him.
Was that an offside foul ? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Thomas
Yes of course. The ball only has to be touched by a team mate so a kick, header, knee, chest, etc. all qualify as a touch. The touch does not even have to be deliberate so a deflection or rebound would also count.

View Referee Joe McHugh profileAnswer provided by Referee Gary Voshol Yes, that's offside. There is no restriction on what kind of touch by a teammate sets offside. It can even be an inadvertent touch. Law 11 just says touched or played.
