Question Number: 27237Law 11 - Offside 3/11/2013RE: Competitive High School Dave of /gainesville, Ga USA asks...Should a player be called offside if he receives ball directly from a goalkeeper's throw, punt, or dropkick? (A goal can be scored directly by GK thru one of these methods) Answer provided by Referee Dennis Wickham Of course. A player in offside position when the goal keeper last touched the ball, is ineligible to participate in play. (Note: there is a special exception for a ball received directly from a goal kick, throw-in, or corner kick.)

The only time offside does not apply is from a goal kick, a throw in or a corner. Offside applies at all other times including a punt or a throw by the GK.
