Question Number: 27226Law 6 - Assistant Referee 3/6/2013RE: Adult willie of kilmarnock, ayrshire scotland asks...can an assistant referee overturn a referees decision. Answer provided by Referee Jason Wright The short answer is 'no' - strictly speaking, the AR doesn't make any decisions; he simply advises the referee of this view and the referee is the one who makes all the decisions. However, the AR, if he feels the need, can call the referee over to discuss an incident, and this may result in the referee changing his decision.

He is helped by assistant referees to carry out his role. So the referee can be influenced by advice from an assistant but ultimately it is the referee that makes the call to make or overturn a decision.
