Question Number: 27128Law 10 - Method of Scoring 1/23/2013RE: Under 19 meet jani of ahmedabad, gujarat india asks...My sir asked me a question that if a shot was taken at the goal and after hitting the side post the ball burst into two pieces, with one piece crossing the goal line and other deflecting back. So will it be a goal ? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi
As the ball burst before crossing the goal line no goal can be awarded.
The referee restarts play with a dropped ball ,in this case, on the 6 yard line directly opposite the goal post where the ball deflated.
