Question Number: 26836Law 8 - Start and Restart of Play 9/25/2012RE: Adult liam mc cartney of Derry, Ireland asks...does two people have to touch the ball before a goal is scored or can you score direct from the kick off Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Liam The Law was changed on this in 1997. Prior to 1997 a goal could not be scored directly from the kick off. That all changed in 1997 when The Laws of the Game were amended to state that a goal could be scored directly from the kick off and that is still the current position.
