Or, is this a second touch offense such as on a kick-off? Answer provided by Referee Dennis Wickham There is no second touch infringement for a dropped ball. Once the ball touches the ground, any player may dribble it.

View Referee Dennis Wickham profileAnswer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Charlie Once the ball touches the ground it is in play. There is then no restriction on who can play the ball or the manner in which the ball is played which can include dribbling the ball away.

View Referee Joe McHugh profileAnswer provided by Referee Michelle Maloney It is the referee who conducts the restart and the ground that puts the ball into play. As such, the player who plays the ball is free and open to continue to touch and play the ball. The second touch rule applies to balls put into play by the players.
