Question Number: 26019Law 11 - Offside 3/1/2012RE: Intermediate Under 12 Phil of Tarzana, CA United States asks...This question is a follow up to question 26011 I would think that this is a poor defense tactic, wouldn't you? Even if the kick misses, it will likely be recovered by an attacker, who could dribble the ball past the keeper OR pass it slightly backwards to another attacker. The keeper would be hard pressed to cover everyone.
In fact, the kicker could pass the ball to a teammate, who has the option of taking a kick or passing in any direction except forward, so another teammate could take the shot. Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Phil
Just one point. The direction of the pass is always irrelevant. It can be in any direction including forward.
