Question Number: 25847Law 11 - Offside 12/21/2011RE: pro Adult inem of abuja, Nigeria asks...In soccer, when only a player's hand is slightly behind d last defender but his entire body is just in line with the defender, would such player be deemed to be offside?

The arms are not used in the calculation of offside. The reason is that a player cannot legally use his arm to play the ball so it is not possible to interfere with play by touching the ball which is a requirement of offside. If the hand/ arm is used to play the ball the offence is deliberate handling
