Question Number: 25705Law 11 - Offside 11/5/2011RE: Adult elliot gaunt of peterborough, bourne lincs asks...is a player offside if he is through on goal with just the keeper to beat and he chips the keeper but the ball comes back off the cross bar back to him and he heads it in? is he offside? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Elliot This is not offside. Offside only applies when the ball is touched or played by a team mate. In this case the player has in effect played it to himself via the frame of the goal. The same would apply if it came back off the goalkeeper.
