This question is a follow up to question 25379

Is a goal counted if the ball is kicked and in play then the whistle is blown and the ball goes into the goal ?

Hi Frank
A goal cannot be scored when play has been stopped by the whistle and the ball as yet to cross the goal line. The restart is the reason the play was stopped by the referee.

No. The whistle stops play. A goal cannot be scored when the ball is not in play.

Oops! When the whistle blows, play stops. If the ball enters the goal after the whistle blows, there is no goal. Restart will depend on why the ref blew the whistle, unless it was the end of half whistle.

A goal can only be scored if the ball is in play. Play stops when the referee stops it. If the referee stopped play before all of the ball crossed over all of the line in accordance with Law 10, there can be no goal.
