Question Number: 25334Law 11 - Offside 8/20/2011RE: pro Professional ali of buckeye, az usa asks...is there offsides on throw in's? Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol No. Law 11 says,
'There is no offside offence if a player receives the ball directly from:
* a goal kick
* a throw-in
* a corner kick'

A player cannot be offside from a goal kick, throw in or a corner kick. The way to remember this is that when the ball leaves the field of play a player cannot be offside directly from the restart.

Since offside is judged only when the ball is touched or played by a teammate, if it happens to touch an opponent before reaching the player, offside is not affected in any way
