Question Number: 24794Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 4/9/2011RE: Semi pro Adult Allan shamuyarira of Harare, Harare Zimbabwe asks...This question is a follow up to question 24764 Thanx for your reponse.Sorry , my last question to to u was incomplete- the defender in this case cleared the ball of the goalline using his HANDS ( just likes Saurez at the world cup ) . Is the refree in this case allowed to award a goal instead of a penalty . Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Allan
If all of the ball did not cross the goal line then a goal cannot be awarded. The correct decision is a penalty kick and the defender is dismissed for denying an obvious goal.
