Question Number: 24793Law 11 - Offside 4/9/2011RE: 09 Adult Barney James of Tulsa, OK USA asks...Off a corner kick the ball strikes a defensive player that is out further from the goal and bounces back to the offensive player that made the corner kick. Is the offensive player off sides? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Barney Offside only applies when the ball is last touched/played by a player to a team mate. In this case the ball has not touched any other team mate just a defender so offside cannot apply. Offside consideration would apply if the rebound was off a team mate or it was played by a forward which then rebounded off an opponent to a team mate.
