Can you be offside from a goal kick?

Hi Mike
Easy way to remember this is that a player cannot be offside from any restart where the ball has left the field of play. So a player cannot be offside from a throw in, corner kick or goal kick.

Offside is not in effect for the first player to receive the ball from a teammate on throw-ins, corner kicks or goal kicks. This is spelled out in Law 11. After that, offside begins again. (And of course if an opponent receives the ball, there is no offside consideration at all.)
