A2 shoots and the keeper bangs it back out. A1 shoots into the net Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol If A1 was ahead of the ball, he was in an offside position. If he was in the offside position when A2 took the shot, he cannot become involved in play. If he does, he is called for offside based on 'gaining an advantage' from his position.

A1 was in offside position because at the time of A2's shot he was in the opposing half and closer to the goal than both the second last defender and the ball. The deflection off the keeper does not reset offside position. When A1 touches the ball, he is offside for gaining an advantage (touching the ball after it deflects off an opponent or crossbar).
