Question Number: 234

Law 5 - The Referee

RE: Rec Other

Joe of Fort Gordon, Georgia US asks...

I wish to become certified as a Referee. What programs are available? I am originally from California. Are there certifications available in Georgia that California will recognize? Are there programs currently available in either South Carolina and/or Georgia? Thank you for your assistance. Sincerely, Joe

Answer provided by Referee stewart

The best place to receive the advice you need is your local referees association. They will provide the training and tests you need to get your certificate.I'm not sure how to find your local association, but if you know a soccer league association member, they should be able to provide you with some way of contacting them.Failing that, next match you see with a referee, talk to him after the match (not during the game please !!)and I'm sure he will tell you all you need to know. Good luck in your refereeing carreer, the game needs referees to allow competetitve games to go ahead in a fair and safe environment and they are sometimes in short supply.
