Question Number: 21515Law 6 - Assistant Referee 6/9/2009RE: Competive Adult Eraldo Fontes of Edmonton, Alberta Canada asks...When the AR sees an infraction done by de defending team inside the PA not seeing by the referee, what action should he/she take? (Raise flag to get referee's attention and then...) Thanks. Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino Raise the flag and get the referees attention. Wiggle the flag. After the referee stops play, lower the flag and hold it in front of your waist indicating you are asking for a penalty kick, then walk to the corner flag

View Referee Keith Contarino profileAnswer provided by Referee Richard Dawson If it is a clear foul UNSEEN by the referee then you are obligated in law to bring it to his attention. Trying for eye contact, you raise the flag in the hand nearest the goal to indicate the foul direction. You wiggle it to indicate a foul as opposed to an offside. Then drap the flag across of the body at the waist to indicate the location of the foul was in fact a DFK inside the penalty area thus a PK restart. If there was misconduct associated with that foul then tap the top shirt pocket to indicate a caution yellow card or the back rear short 's pocket to indicate a send off, red card. Assumming this was covered in the pregame as the agreed signal, otherwise wave the referee over to talk and confirm as you continue with the established eye contact. Cheers
