Question Number: 2015 RE: Rec Adult Clinton Martinez of santiquin, UT USA asks...When watching the USA Honduras game towards the end When Cobi Jones was red carded I watched the re-play over and over and there is no way that was a red card violation. I thought that maybe both players should have been warned and at the worst yellow carded (both players as I thought the more violent of play was from the Honduran). Now Fifa has added 2 games to Cobi's suspension which shouldn't have even been a red card in my opinion. Is this just a way for FIFA to justify the pitiful officiating or am I seeing this through red, white and blue glasses? Answer provided by Referee Victor Matheson Obviously, I'm not going to criticize a fellow referee who officiates at a level higher than I do. However, FIFA is very big about stamping out any type of retaliation. There were several incidents in the last World Cup where very minor pushing after a foul resulted in red cards. Apparently soccer doesn't want the game to become hockey.
