Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol If he knows your name, why not? After all, many times the ref will say when administering misconduct will be, '#7, you are being [cautioned/sent off] for X. Name please?' The name must be checked to see that we are reporting the correct player. If the ref already knows the player's name, he can say, 'Lucas, correct? You are being ...'
