Question Number: 19200

Law 10 - Method of Scoring 5/25/2008

RE: Competitive Adult

Darryn of Auckland, NZ asks...

We had a game called off with 10 minutes to go on Saturday due to a few players getting heated. It was 5-1 and a forgone conclusion with top team playing bottom team. Should the result still stand or be replayed?

What is the FIFA law?

Thanks.

Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino

FIFA does not address this. The referee will write a detailed report and forward it to the proper authorities. They will decide what is to be done

Sad that, but the league decides, FIFA only says the match must be two equal halves.
A replay could be ordered after the discipine to those responsible for the abandonment and red card sanctions are dealt with. Some leagues have a policy reguarding such things. Thus it is always good to study league bylaws in the preseason. Cheers

This is up to the league. The referee reports the facts and the league makes a decision.
