Question Number: 19157Law 10 - Method of Scoring 5/20/2008RE: Women's Over 35 Competitive League Adult Alicia of San Francisco, CA USA asks...In a recent game I played, a player on my team kicked the ball and it bounced off the defensive player and went into the goal. Who is credited with the goal? Does the player on my team get the stat?
Thank you. Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol Per the Laws of the Game, your team is credited with a goal.
Individual player statistics are up to the coaching staff to determine.
Some leagues have game sheets with players' names listed, and the ref is supposed to credit goals to which player scored it. In that case, I choose the last player to have touched the ball on the team that scored.
