Question Number: 19045Law 10 - Method of Scoring 5/10/2008RE: recreational Under 11 Mr. C of Central Jersey, NJ USA asks...I have a question in regards to scoring a goal. Is it a goal if the goalie picks up the ball near the goal line and walks inside the net with ball in hand passing the goal line? Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson The keeper during ongoing play if unwise or unlucky could concievably carry the ball completely over the goal line, under the crossbar, between the posts and if seen as such bythe referee it is a legal goal provided there were no infringments in law by the opposing team as in pushed him over etc.. It is an oops, kick off and a sheepish red faced keeper to be sure. Cheers

If the ball happens to be in the keeper's hands, it's still a goal.

The referee or assistant referee had ought to be right down on the goal line to "sell" the fact that the ball could clearly be seen completely over the goal line.
