Question Number: 18794Law 10 - Method of Scoring 4/15/2008RE: Rec Under 15 Ray of irvine, CA USA asks...I was watching a U8 soccer game. The attacking team took a shot at the goal. The keeper picked up the ball and walked to the edge of the penalty area. The keeper kicked the ball which went over his head and into the goal. The referee called no goal and the restart was a corner kick. Was this the correct call? Should the goal have counted and a normal restart taken place? Is it a goal if the goalie accidently durring throwing the ball throws it into his own goal? Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino It's possible that in your area there is a U8 modification that treats keeper possessions as a restart. If there's no such modification then this should have been a goal as the ball was in play when the keeper inadvertantly kicked the ball into his own net.
