Question Number: 18554

Law 2 - The Ball 3/16/2008

RE: select High School

kim of Middleville, mi usa asks...

This question is a follow up to question 17411

I just wanted a clarificaton by what you mean by a heavy and light ball [in 17411]?

Thanks

Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer

The terms heavy and light refer to the ball's inflation pressure. There is a great latitude allowed in this and I tend to adjust it based on the length of the grass, wetness, weather, and all the other stuff that interferes with how the ball behaves. I do this only if I receive improperly inflated footballs from the home side.

Regards,
