Question Number: 18406Law 1- The Field 2/19/2008RE: rec Adult alex of richmond hill, ontario canada asks...This question is a follow up to question 18383 There are incidences when the 5 ft corner flag is not standing vertical from the field, thus making the top of the pole lower than 5 ft. This can be due to attachment problems or ground conditions.
What should we do? Abandon the match as the top of the pole is lower than 5 ft? Remove that corner flag but this goes against LOTG? Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer Make the area safe, start the match. Indicate in your match report what was necessary to make things safe. This includes removing the flag and playing without one.
Regards,

If the flag poses a threat to player safety it is better to remove it, if it can't be replaced. A match can be played without corner flags, but really it shouldn't be done that way.
