Question Number: 17362Law 10 - Method of Scoring 10/17/2007RE: Travel Adult cathy cosgrove of east brunswick, nj usa asks...This question is a follow up to question 16929 Is it a goal when the ball passes over the goal line, between the goal posts and under the crossbars, yet comes back out, not due to the goalie, but because of the net?????? Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Hi Cathy, if the ball completely crossed the goal line and deflects or spins back out if no infringement was in effect by the team that scored the goal we have a goal. Assuming it is of course it is actually seen to cross the line. A tightly strung net or a hole in the netting can cause these problems. Cheers

View Referee Richard Dawson profileAnswer provided by Referee Keith Contarino If the whole of the ball crosses the whole of the goal line either on the ground or in the air and is between the goalposts and under the crossbar in accordance with Law 10, a goal has been scored. Period. If the ball comes back onto the field of play for ANY reason, it's still a goal.
