Question Number: 16956Law 10 - Method of Scoring 9/28/2007RE: Varsity High School John MacInnes of Murfreesboro, TN USA asks...The defensive team plays a free kick toward their goal. the kick deflects off the keepers foot into the goal. Is it a goal? Same situation, and the keeper attempts to stop the ball with his/her hands. Do you call the foul or do you play advantage and allow the goal? Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino Yes. Yes. If the keeper lets the ball go into the goal in either case without touching it, it's NOT a goal but is a corner kick. You cannot score directly on yourself at ANY restart. Once the keeper touches the ball, it's no longer directly.
