Question Number: 16665Law 6 - Assistant Referee 9/12/2007RE: u10 Under 10 ginny lindgard of kaaawa, hawaii usa asks...Aloha, I have been asked to be line refferee this weekend and know nothing about the rules.
Please halp mee!!! Answer provided by Referee Michelle Maloney You will be what is known as a "club line" and your only duty will be to indicate to the referee by raising your flag straight up when the ball has left the field. To do this properly, you need to know when the ball leaves. It leaves or is completely off of the field when no part of the ball is over any part of the line - if you can see any daylight between the ball and the edge of the line, it is out. Don't wiggle your flag, or pop it, or do anything with it except to raise it up and down. If the referees asks you, you may indicate the direction of the throw, but understand she is not required to accept your advice. Have a good time, and go take a referee class - we always need more!

All you need do is show up, do as Ref Maloney says in her answer and remember the referee will give you instructions before the match. Do what the referee tells you at the time she wants it done and enjoy.
