Question Number: 16613Law 10 - Method of Scoring 9/9/2007RE: rec Adult mark of west des moines, ia usa asks...can a player score a goal for the other team by inadvertently kicking the ball in his own goal? Answer provided by Referee Michelle Maloney Was the ball in play? Yes? Was the ball kicked into the goal during active play (not directly from a restart like a goal kick, indirect free kick, direct free kick, or kickoff)? Yes? Did all of the ball go across the goal line, in between the goal posts and under the crossbar? Yes? If yes to all of these, then it is a goal, whether inadvertent or not, no matter which player from which team kicked it in.
